I’ve been trying to read a bit more this year in between working on Kaz’s story, re-editing the rest of the Men of Café Seuil series, and writing bonus epilogues. Recently I picked up three M/M romances that I absolutely couldn’t put down. In fact, I read at least one of them in one sitting.

There’s a sizzling mafia romance, a historical with magic, and a totally charming contemporary. Hopefully a little bit of something for whatever kind of mood you find yourself in. 💛

💍 Married to the Mobster by Leighton Greene

This one is absolutely scorching. I have to admit, I don’t read a lot of mafia romance, but this was the perfect mafia read for me. It has that “I will kill anyone who touches you” energy in the best kind of way. We meet a young, drugged out, filthy rich party boy who saves the life of a low level mobster. They have a super raunchy and slightly bonkers one night stand that neither one of them can forget, even years later. Ultimately fate brings them together again… and let’s just say that fate brings chains.

Light D/s tones, arranged marriage, some hidden identity, mafia politics, mild-moderate violence, and utterly delicious. There’s also a major hot and cold/miscommunication situation that made me want to tear someone’s hair out, but if you enjoy such things, you’re going to love it.

I picked this one up on a whim, and I’m thrilled to see that this series is complete, and there’s even a West Coast spinoff currently in the works. Finding a new series to read is the best feeling!

🐦‍⬛ The Magpie Lord by KJ Charles

Okay, this is a reread for me, but WOW what a reread. This was one of the first modern M/M romances I ever read that really made me fall in love with the genre, and it was even better on the second read. Steamy historical/paranormal romance with more sexual tension than anyone knows what to do with. Plus mystery, magic, and mayhem, all in the best kinds of ways.

We also have a peerless, rakish rouge of a Lord who never wanted to be an Earl in the first place and a petite but very powerful magician. Lots of delicious class/power dynamics tension. And an incredibly delightful bonus story (at least at the end of the edition I read). Oh, and don’t even get me started on that scene in the Rose Walk. 🥵

Rereading this really made me want to catch up on all of KJ Charles’ books I’ve missed out over the past few years! It’s hard to know where to start. It looks like there’s a new release that just came out this month, so maybe I’ll start with that one next.

💋 Better than Sex by Kit Erikson

This is the most romantic thing I’ve read in a long time. Steaming hot and utterly charming contemporary romance set in San Francisco. We have a super jaded, self-proclaimed “sex god” who decides to “help” a plucky, virginal live-in nanny with his sex life. There’s a makeover, practice kissing, lots of sexy sex ed, and some fantastic groveling when everything ends up going awry.

I was literally crying during the epilogue. And now I’m hooked on the group of friends who all call themselves “sex gods” and I can’t wait to see a certain roommate fall in love when he least expects it. 😈

I suppose I’ll have to wait for the downfall of the next “sex god” until Book 2’s ready. I’m really looking forward to picking it up!

I’ll be posting more M/M romance recs here on the blog throughout the year whenever I have at least three more to rave about. Until then, I’m going to do my best to keep my Goodreads and BookBub profiles up to date.

Come find me over there—or feel free to leave a comment below and let me know what you’ve been reading lately, especially if you have any M/M romance recs of your own! 📚
